Q: Why did the French claim Western lands in North America?
A: The French reclaimed the land, so that they could participate in the fur trade, and to also convert Native Americans into Christianity.

Q: What did the English and French compete in?
A: They compete to see who could deliver/trade furs with the Europeans.

Q: What happened during the French Indian War?
A: The French and the British went to war over the land west of the Appalachia Mountains, all to control the fur trade and to gain control of new territory. Many Native American groups allied with both the French and the British. Eventually, Britain won and the French lost control of this territory.
Q: Why did the colonists and Great Britain have a misunderstanding after the French and Indian War?
A: The colonies were upset with England, because England wanted the lands that were gained after the war to remain in Native American control. They did not want to upset the balance and peace between their Native allies. The colonists wanted to use the land and move west.
Q: Why did England send troops to the American colonies?
A: They England sent troops to the colonies to help manage the colonists and to control any uprisings that may occur after the French Indian War and because of the new taxes that were being imposed.
Q: Why did England begin charging taxes on the colonies?
A: England began charging taxes because they were bankrupt after the French Indian War, and they were in desperate need of money. England felt that it was the colonies’ duty to repay since they helped them fight, win the war and gain new lands. 

Q: Why did England approve the Stamp Act?
A: Great Britain imposed the Stamp Act, because they wanted to make sure that colonists pay their share of taxes.  Charging for all paper materials such as stamps, newspapers, legal documents, to name a few, they knew the colonists would be forced to pay in order to get what they need.
Q: Why did colonists protest the Stamp Act?
A:  The colonists protested the Stamp Act, because they were paying a lot in taxes and were left with little to no money. The most famous group to rebel was the Sons of Liberty, which included leaders such as Sam Adams. 

Q: Why did the Boston Massacre happen?
A: The Sons of Liberty were the ones to call this incident the “Boston Massacre.” Everything started with colonists and British soldiers insulting and fighting one another. One thing lead to another, and British soldiers shot and killed five colonists. The British soldiers stated they were only defending themselves. In the end, the British soldiers were arrested and tried in court. John Adams defended them, and they were eventually, set free and declared innocent. 

Q: Why was the Tea Act imposed?
A: British Parliament established the Tea Act because they wanted to continue to tax them and collect money. They also wanted to show that they had some control over the colonies.
Q: What caused the Boston Tea Party?
A: The Sons of Liberty were upset about the Tea Act, so they dressed up as Native Americans and decided to dump over 300 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor.
